Thank you for visiting my website. I have created a body of work that explores the structures, patterns, colors, shapes and textures of nature. Landscapes, architecture, flowers, plants, nests, shells, and rocks are among the subjects that I have painted. I work from observation, many times in the outdoors. When it is impossible to work outside, I paint from observation inside my studio.
My Paintings are all done in oil, on stretched canvas or on a wood panel. I enjoy the transparency, texture and vivid color that I can get through the medium. For me, there is nothing that compares to the magical experience of painting in oil.
My Prints are mostly etchings. Etching is a technique where an image is scratched and/or etched with acid onto a copper plate. The plate is then hand inked and run through a press, the same way that Rembrandt did in the 16th century. All prints are on acid free rag paper and are signed.
Drawing is what got me started as an artist at a young age. I have always loved the texture of graphite, but I also use charcoal, ink, watercolor and gouache. Whether it is a painting or a print, I always begin an image with a drawing or under-drawing. You will see images in my drawing section that are repeated in my paintings and my prints.
I welcome you to schedule a visit to my studio, even if you just want to look!
